WHAT'S THE CONCEPT ?
After experiencing a hostile takeover of his casino by Willie Bank (Al Pacino), Reuben (Elliot Gould) suffers a heart attack. But despite his shrewd but oh-so-smooth charm, Willie’s ruthless attempts at capitalizing on Reuben’s wealth are about to backfire after he invites Reuben’s staunch supporters, Danny and co., to get on his case. This jumpstarts a new and facetious game of their capitalizing on the situation while pulling tricks from under their sleeve to throw Bank to the back of the pack, and let Reuben redeem his fortune and place in society.
WHAT'S LIKE ?
Brad Pitt and George Clooney are improving with time, like a fine wine, as they carry their stand as living proof that you can be dignified with immense sex appeal past 40. Definitely a better Ocean’s installment than 12, in 13 the actor that steals the show is Matt Damon who is guaranteed to break your face into laughter with a few select, overly “nosey” scenes.
WORTH WATCHING ?
This time around there are a lot of 007 undertones, with weird wigs, fake moustaches and strange booby traps that makes good fun out of the story. There’s great chemistry between Pitt and Clooney who carry the plot forward as the main duo, with Damon tagging along. While it may sound like a charged up, back-stabbing gangster story, the heart of the story is really focused on friendship and loyalty as can be seen by the last scene. |
