WHAT’S THE CONCEPT?
Sarah Hurlihy (Lane) is a divorced pre-school teacher. Fresh out of a harsh break-up, she’s reveling in her singlehood, having decided to steer clear from dating for a long time. But her family and friends are against the idea full force, and instead, the pressure is on for her to go out and find her prince charming. The story kicks in when it reaches the extent of which her sister actually places an ad for her, with the catch that whoever answers the ad “must love dogs”.
WHAT’S IT LIKE?
The fact is that Sarah doesn’t actually own a dog. Dog lovers are just prone to loyalty and unconditional love, and that’s what Sarah needs. And when someone that tickles her fancy finally responds to the ad (Cusack), the only way to stick through with the dog-lover façade, is to actually throw a dog into the scenario. That’s when they decide to borrow their brother’s dog, Mother Theresa, as they prepare to chew the fat...and stomach the love...
WORTH WATCHING?
While it’s enjoyable for a good watch during one of those lazy evenings, the dialogue is a little bit contrived at times. Dog lovers should enjoy this nonetheless, that canine companion buzz is very strong here. Lane and Cusack are a bit stand-offish of each other in their acting, but it’s for the better cause they’re meant to be at first. So if you find yourself moping around in your undies in your more mature life, after a harsh break-up, you should find mucho consolation in this DVD. Similar in essence to the warm feeling of your doggy slurping your face. |
