WHAT'S THE CONCEPT ?
After the nth installment of Rocky, who would have assumed that a decade later there would yet another addition to the never ending boxing saga? Alas, Rocky is back, but this time he’s on to a battle against himself. In the years that have passed, he has had to endure many blows like losing his wife Adrian to cancer and the gradual divide between him and his son Rocky Jr.
WHAT'S LIKE ?
While the majority of his time is spent harping about his past achievements to hungry guests that grace the Deli he now runs, he’s about to take one more slug at being a champion. But when ESPN runs a program to portray what the outcome would have been had Rocky and the champion Mason “The Line” Dixon gone head to head, Rocky remembers what it means to be in the ring, and re-registers for his license.
WORTH WATCHING ?
Like a real blast from the past, it’s Rocky in his older years and a good take on what it means to be a has-been in denial. But Sly Stallone has matured with age and so have his machismo antics which when taken straight out of the eighties and put into context with the new millennium are an interesting sight to see. The going gets tough when word gets around that Rocky is making a come back, and the media manages to manipulate “The Line” to really fight Rocky in order to create publicity. |
